40th CIESM Congress, Marseille

The Commission, with headquarters in Monaco, has grown from the eight founding countries of its origin to 23 Member States today and supports a network of several thousand marine researchers, applying the latest scientific tools to better understand, monitor and protect a fast-changing, highly impacted Mediterranean Sea.

It integrates a broad spectrum of marine disciplines, encompassing geo-physical, chemical and biological processes, along with high-resolution mapping of the sea-bottom. The 40th Congress was held between the 28th of October to the 1st of November 2013 at Marseille, at Palais du Pharo. Scientist from all over the world followed the six topics of the congress:

  • Marine Geoscience
  • Physics and Climate of the Ocean
  • Marine Biogeochemistry
  • Marine Microbiology & Biotechnology
  • Living Resources & Marine Ecosystems
  • Coastal Systems

We have delegated Vlad Lazar to present a poster and to have a few minutes talk on the topic of the paper “SIDE-SCAN SONAR MAPPING OF COASTAL SEABED HABITATS. A CASE STUDY ON ROMANIAN SCI NATURA 2000 SITES” that we have coauthored with the National Institute for Marine Research and Development.
